Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life will help you find out where you are spending your time and energy, which areas of your life are most satisfying and where you would like to focus attention on improving your quality of life. Using this tool, you will be able to reflect and gain some insight into the balance of your life.

Step 1

Review the 10 categories on the wheel and think about what would represent a satisfying life in each area. Place a dot where you feel you want your life to be on this scale. 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest rating.

Step 2

Against each category, ask yourself the question “how satisfied am I in this particular area?” Place a dot where you feel you are on this scale. A score of 1 would indicate that you are not spending any time on this part of your life and you’re absolutely unsatisfied with how you’re feeling with this. A higher score would indicate that you are spending a lot of time on this part of your life and you’re absolutely satisfied with how you’re progressing within this area.


The end result looks a bit like a spider web and will give you a general idea of your overall life satisfaction in relation to your desired life satisfaction.

Take a moment to appreciate your Wheel of Life. What does it look like? Are there any surprises to you? How efficient and effective are you going to be in life if you cannot move forward in a balanced way?

 

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Is your current wheel crooked or is it balanced?

  • Why did you score yourself in each category the way you did?

  • What is your ideal score for each category to achieve in the next month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months?

  • Where are your biggest gaps? Which area of your life do you primarily want to focus on?
